Because of the dignity and the light within us all …

I think the reason why I work in the prisons is because I see prisons as a place in which, even though in their modern form they’re not designed to do so, they inevitably crush the human spirit. And I think we have an obligation to protect people from that - to help them to maintain their dignity and survive the experience as whole human beings.
