In police work the negative aspects in life are always dramatized by the media. A more positive direction should be dawned upon.

Our focus should be concentrated on the young people of our community. By educating them, with the assistance of police and other social services, we are able to bridge the gap and fear that they have towards us.

The new wave of policing is getting the community involved in its own neighbourhoods. One way of accomplishing this is setting up community police stations to deal with any problems within the community. It’s like going “back to basics”, when the old time police officer knew everyone and knew what was going on in his district. Community policing has gone towards that direction.

Update: George began his career with idealism, but near the end of it he seemed to lose his way. In 2010 he was charged with assault of a prisoner. It was deemed, by the police commissioner, that he did not use undue force, however that has since been disputed. He received a lengthy probational period, but was not fired from the force. He retired in 2012.
