When I was called (for jury duty) I never for one moment thought, I can’t do this or don’t want to do this. So, when I was surrounded by all these people who were so nervous, it was a great surprise to me. I believe we cannot live in this country and not take this responsibility.

It was our job as jurors to persuade other jurors of our position, to come to agreement. Do I think the system works? I think it does. In our case I think it did. We heard the testimony. The judge summed up the case and we were unanimous in our decision. I felt we were successful. We had done our job. The judge really tried to impress upon us how important this job was. He thanked us for doing our job.
